Talking about the game Roulette yesterday, specifically the martigale system where u essentially double your bet if you lose, in the hope that u will win back all youve lost until then when you guess the correct color, though tables have a limit thus youve gotta do it within that limit or else you lose it all. OK obviously over time you will lose more than you win, due to house advantage, which in NZ is 2.7% (only green 0) in the US (with green 0 + green 00) the house advantage is 5.26%, so youre a fool if u play roulette in the States. Now what Ive written so far is obvious, what was interesting though is he was describing the players initial stake is $10 or $50 with a table limit of $500 max bet. I calculated in my head $50 will be a 20% advantage over $10 but often with stuff like this its nice to run some numbers through the pc, so quickly hacked up a programHeres the last few results from the program

(I'll have to think about that a bit more) Statistically the best bet you can do is the houselimit thus in this case $500! though perhaps not the best for the entertainment value, as you will either be winning or losing you set amount of cash a lot quicker than you will with $10.

in addition to my last post, Of the few billion dolars of minerals mined in nz last year, the nz government only got paid a dividend of $6million dollars.
What a joke, this will not change the fact that jeremy brownnose will still give the impression when he mentions tens of billions of dollars of minerals in the ground
that the nz government will greatly benifit from it

wrote a program to calculate pi to X number of decimal places, here
its 100,000. And then assigned a color to each digit, 2 different
spectrums first 0->9 == red->green and then 0->9 ==
red->green->red, which is a better method since after 9 it
loops back to 0, And then drew it depending on a modulo value
(which I could change with the keyboard) So I could see if any
patterns popped up, I wasnt expecting any to, since noones yet been
able to find a pattern in Pi, but one never knows ;). Yes + before
someone mentions it this does sound like something a nutter would
do "looking for a sign of 'god' in a constructable number"
though since Im aware of this I think my sanities safe :) Actually
I wouldnt mind writing a program that calutes Pi,E etc to billions

OK heres a couple of logical points
1/ the national parks make up ~10% of nz's area, thus statiscally theres must be more than one trillion dollars in the other 90% of nz, why dont we go for that first?
theres certainly not even one tenth of that dollar value (inflationary adjusted) extracted from the ground so far. :)
2/ Using X dollar values sounds good in sound bites but the reality is the government will only see a fraction of the X amount, the bulk will be going to the mining companies.
eg (government) theres 10billion of gold in that hill
(tax payer) 10billion? well that will certainly pay off a huge chunk of debit, go for it
(government) we've banked 500million
(tax payer)but u said $10 billion?

Encourage
business in NZ, increasing the wages make employee's more
productive by forcing the employer to upgrade equipment etc (This
is the major reason why NZ is not as productive as other western
countries , In the past its been cheaper to hire a new person
instead of upgrading the equipment). Having a larger gap between
dole->paid work will encourage ppl to get off the dole and into
work, i.e. a use a carrot not a stick as its more likely to get
results. Basically all that is needed is to stimulate the economy,
encourage business, entrepreneurship
